If you are searching for your perfect Northern Ireland property, we’ve highlighted below six key locations to help you on your way.

Belfast

As the capital and largest city, Belfast offers an array of sought-after neighbourhoods that appeal to families, professionals and investors alike. Its architectural mix, excellent schools, and strong transport links make it a practical yet culturally rich place to live.

South Belfast: Malone

Malone is one of Belfast’s most prestigious suburbs, known for its leafy avenues, elegant homes, and access to green spaces such as Lagan Meadows and Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park. The Malone Road and Lisburn Road provide a wealth of cafés, restaurants, and boutiques.

Malone Golf Club, set around a picturesque lake, provides an exceptional setting for golfers of all abilities.

The area’s schools, including Methodist College, RBAI, and Victoria College, add appeal for families, while proximity to Queen’s University and excellent transport links ensure sustained demand for property.

East Belfast: Stormont

To the east, Stormont offers an attractive residential setting centred around the Stormont Estate, with its woodland trails and play park.

The area has a strong choice of schools, including Campbell College and Our Lady and St Patrick’s College, Knock, one of Northern Ireland’s most highly regarded schools. Quick access to Belfast City Airport and the city centre makes it ideal for commuters.

Holywood

Around five miles from Belfast, Holywood combines coastal scenery with town convenience. Its lively high street, excellent schools, and transport links make it one of the most desirable addresses for homebuyers searching for Northern Ireland property.

Residents enjoy woodland walks in Redburn Country Park, coastal strolls at Seapark, and a strong sporting tradition through Holywood Golf Club and Holywood Rugby Club. The town’s calendar of markets and festivals further enhances its appeal.

Education is a particular strength. Sullivan Upper School is among Northern Ireland’s leading grammar schools, complemented by easy access to Belfast’s top independents.

Cultra

A short distance along the coast, Cultra represents one of the most exclusive residential areas in Northern Ireland. Positioned on the southern shores of Belfast Lough, it offers a lifestyle defined by sailing, golf, and coastal living.

Residents enjoy access to the Royal North of Ireland Yacht Club, the Royal Belfast Golf Club, and the Culloden Estate & Spa.

The Ulster Folk and Transport Museum provides a distinctive cultural anchor nearby.

Regular rail services from Cultra reach central Belfast in about 12–20 minutes, with frequent services throughout the day. With road connections into Belfast equally efficient, Cultra combines leisure with convenience.

Large, detached homes and properties with sea views dominate a market where opportunities are often private and competition is intense.

Helen’s Bay

Moving further along the North Down coastline, Helen’s Bay is prized for its sandy beach, proximity to Crawfordsburn Country Park, and tranquil village setting.

The area offers both coastal and countryside living, with a golf course overlooking Belfast Lough and access to the marina in nearby Bangor. Families benefit from local primaries and access to leading grammar schools such as Sullivan Upper and Bangor Grammar.

Limited housing stock and high demand mean properties here often sell quickly, maintaining the village’s reputation as one of Northern Ireland’s most desirable coastal addresses.

Royal Hillsborough

Inland, Royal Hillsborough is one of Northern Ireland’s most historic and prestigious villages, its royal designation further elevating its profile.

Centred around its Georgian streets and the grand Hillsborough Castle and Gardens, the village combines heritage charm with practical connectivity. Belfast is just 20 minutes away, and the A1 provides fast routes to Dublin.

Homes range from period cottages to modern family houses, all benefiting from the village’s conservation character and strong sense of community. The royal status has reinforced Hillsborough’s position as both a lifestyle choice and a sound investment.

Portrush and Portstewart

On the north coast, Portrush and Portstewart are Northern Ireland’s iconic seaside towns, known for their beaches, views, and golf heritage.

Portrush’s world-renowned Royal Portrush Golf Club, host to The Open Championship, and its three Blue Flag beaches make it a year-round destination.

Portstewart offers a gentler pace, with its National Trust-managed Portstewart Strand and promenade cafés.

Good schools, access to Ulster University in Coleraine, and a wide range of leisure options add to the area’s appeal. The market is strong, with particular demand for homes near the golf courses and coastline.
